As you break away from the congested airports and freeways, join us as we board the Amtrak Coast Starlight from beautiful, sunny southern California to Seattle, the emerald city. On the train, you will enjoy the fellowship of each other and good food as you take in the majestic scenery of the Pacific Coastline. The cozy seats and panoramic windows will give you the perfect view as the train hugs the rocky coastlines on the legendary horseshoe bend merged in the cascading mountains. Our journey includes stays at 4-star hotels, great dining experi­ences at well known local eateries in Seattle and Victoria, a visit to the iconic Space Needle and Pike Park Market, and a ferry ride to Victoria, British Co­lumbia, Canada. While in Canada we will have an opportunity to see the vivid floral displays at the enchanting Butchart Gardens and tour some of the highlights of Victoria.  Our return to Seattle will include a full day at beautiful Mount Rainier, a national landmark in Washington. Don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning backdrops of your journey and every breathtaking moment.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 1: Depart Union Station on Amtrak in Los Angeles

The Amtrak Train Coast Starlight departs Union Station at 10:00 AM.  The train passes through Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento and Portland.  This route is the most spectacular of all train routes and provides a stunning backdrop to your journey to Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.o.

 

Day 2: Arrive in Seattle, Washington

During the train ride to Seattle games and fellowship will be available. An optional devotion will be provided Sunday morning.   Arrive in Seattle, Washington at 9:00 PM.  Transportation to the hotel. Overnight in Seattle.

 

Day 3: Seattle City Tour (B, D)

After breakfast, depart for a ½ day Seattle City Tour where you will visit the Space Needle (Seattle Center), the Seattle Waterfront, Pike Place Market.  The stop at Pike Place will allow you to have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area.  After lunch, you will continue your tour to other wonderful sites in Seattle.   The remainder of the day is at your leisure and to prepare for dinner at a selected restaurant. Overnight in Seattle.

 

Day 4: Ferry Ride to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada (B, D)

After breakfast, depart the hotel at 8 am for your ferry ride to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  The trip to Victoria Island includes a two-hour ferry crossing.  This is a large ferry and motion sickness should not be a problem. The ferry ride is a scenic route through the Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands.  During the ferry ride, you are likely to see bald eagles. Upon your arrival to Victoria, you will have a walking tour of the Parliament area and other familiar sites such as the beautiful and historic Empress Hotel. Overnight in Victoria, Canada.

 

Day 5: Butchart Gardens (B, L)

After breakfast, spend a major portion of the day in the spectacular Butchart Gardens. A garden, which was once a limestone quarry, is now one of the most beautiful in the world and is listed as a National Historic Site.  Lunch will be provided in Victoria. After lunch, you will have a bus ride through Victoria.  At 5 PM arrive at the ferry for your return to Seattle.  Overnight in Seattle.

 

Day 6: Mount Rainier National Park (B, D)

After breakfast, depart for a visit to Mount Rainier National Park.  In 1899, Congress established Mount Rainier as a National Park.  It is also deemed a National Historic Landmark.  Mount Rainier is 4,300 meters above southern Washington and is the tallest and most glaciated peak on the US mainland.  It encompasses over 236, 000 acres or over 350 square miles; home to more wildflowers than one can imagine making it an ideal springtime destination. After a wonderful day at Mount Rainier, prepare for your final evening in Seattle with dinner at a selected restaurant.  Overnight in Seattle.

 

Day 7: Depart Seattle (B)

After breakfast depart the hotel for home on Alaska Air.

 

Day 8: Arrival in Los Angeles

9:00 PM arrival at Union Station in Los Angeles.

PACKAGE INCLUDES:

  • One-way train ride on Amtrak to Seattle and one-way flight return to Los Angeles.

  • Lodging at selected hotels.  Costs are based on two persons sharing a queen bedroom. For persons requiring a single room, the single supplement cost is shown. The requirement for single room occupancy should be indicated when making your reservation.

Note: Lodging is not provided for the departure ride on Amtrak’s Coast Starlight.  Travelers have the option to upgrade to a Superliner Roomette, if available.  The Coast Starlight’s large seats are suitable for comfortable reclining. 

  • Meals are provided as indicated on the itinerary.

  • Use of large motorcoach for your convenience.   

  • All taxes related to the tour.

PACKAGE EXCLUDES:

  • Personal expenses.

  • Cost of personal travel insurance.

  • Transportation of heavy baggage in excess of applicable allowance.  Amtrak allows two checked baggage.

  • Gratuity for baggage handling, coach driver and tour guides.  A suggested guideline of $100.00 per passenger to be paid in advance.  Getaway With Joy management does not accept gratuities.  All gratuities go to tour guides, bus drivers and others who assist passengers.

Getaway With Joy (GWJ) acts as agent. The suppliers providing transportation, conveyance or accommodations are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of Getaway With Joy (GWJ). All tickets, coupons and receipts issued by Getaway With Joy (GWJ) and all arrangements for transport or conveyance or for hotel accommodation are made by Getaway With Joy (GWJ) as agent of the suppliers. By utilizing the services of suppliers, you agree neither Getaway With Joy (GWJ) nor any subsidiary or affiliate of Getaway With Joy (GWJ) shall be liable for any injury, damage, loss, accident or delay incurred upon you or those traveling with you in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services resulting directly from any acts or default of suppliers of from any occurrence or condition beyond control of Getaway With Joy (GWJ) including defects in vehicles or breakdown in equipment. Nor shall Getaway With Joy (GWJ) be liable for any injury, damage, loss, accident, or delay resulting directly or indirectly form delays, cancellation or changes in flights, itineraries, schedules, steamers or other services, strikes, theft, sickness, weather, quarantine or other causes.

All tour itineraries and fares may be affected by alterations or delays in air or surface transportation services. Getaway With Joy (GWJ) reserves the right to withdraw any tour in this program and to make such alterations in the itineraries as may be found desirable for the convenience of the parties or the proper operation of the tour.  Getaway With Joy (GWJ) reserves the right to decline any person as a member of the tour party at any time. Due to the change of airfare, hotel rates, cruise fare and the foreign exchange rate.  Getaway With Joy (GWJ) reserves the right to change the tour fare at its discretion without prior notice.

Payment of deposit represents acceptance by the tour member of the Terms & Conditions listed herein. By utilizing the services of Getaway With Joy (GWJ), you agree that exclusive venue for all claims actions or proceedings against Getaway With Joy (GWJ) of whatsoever nature arising out of this contract shall be the State of California, City of Long Beach, CA and such claim, actions or proceedings shall be determined according to the laws within the jurisdiction of the State of California, City of Long Beach, CA
